Dr. Michalle Wright

Michalle specialises in child, adolescent and family psychology. She has over 18 years experience in clinical psychology and has dedicated her career to helping many families on the Gold Coast during that time. Michalle works closely with other professionals and agencies such as doctors and schools to ensure a team approach to treatment.


Michalle received First Class Honours in Psychology at Griffith University in 2000, specialising in Organisational Psychology. She was awarded the Griffith Award for Academic Excellence. She was then awarded a Griffith University Postgraduate Research Scheme scholarship in 2001 to complete her PhD in Clinical Psychology. Her PhD research addressed the nature of depression in adolescence.

Costs and Rebates

Dr. Michalle Wright's service fees are as follows:

  • Initial Interview (85 mins) - $280

  • Ongoing appointments (55 mins) - $200

  • Psychological Reports - $500

  • NDIS review report - $120

  • School visits including travel within the Gold Coast - $250

  • Brief letter per page (e.g., letter for school) - $50

  • Letter of review for a Mental Health Care Plan to referring doctor (free)

Mental Health Care Plans:

Rebates may be available under a Mental Health Care Plan for most mental health concerns. Please speak with your General Practitioner about your eligibility. If eligible, your child will be entitled to a partial rebate for the session cost under Medicare. Rebates as of the beginning of 2019 are $126.50 per session for up to 10 sessions per calendar year. School visits will attract a rebate of $148.00 under Medicare. These can be claimed at the time of your appointment at the clinic. 

National Disability Insurance Scheme:

Children on the Autism Spectrum may be eligible for funding under the National Disability Insurance Scheme. To claim under the NDIS with Dr. Michalle Wright, the funding can be self-managed or plan-managed through an agency. Please speak with your local NDIS support agency for more information or call us at Therapy Matters to inquire about this process. 

Helping Children with Autism Program:

Children diagnosed with an Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) are generally eligible to gain access to the Helping Children with Autism Initiative items under Medicare. This allows children with ASD to use additional sessions for assessment and treatment should they need them above and beyond their Mental Health Care Plan. This includes 4 assessment sessions and 20 treatment sessions that can be used any time before a certain age. These sessions attract a rebate of $86.15 per session. Telehealth Services and COVID-19

As part of the government's response to the COVID-19 pandemic, psychological services can now be provided via Telehealth. I am currently providing Telehealth services via Zoom where requested. Please speak to our reception staff if you wold prefer to have your session via Telehealth.
